Chailease Nurtures ASEAN Talents through Industry-Academia with NCKU

Chailease Holding Co. Chairman Feng-Long Chen received the National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) Outstanding Alumni Award, and announced an industry-academia collaboration with NCKU to provide training for 5-10 ASEAN students in Taiwan or their home countries per year. Great ASEAN Internship and Employment Program (GAIEP) provides internship opportunities for ASEAN students undertaking studies in Taiwan, and be held on winter and summer vacations at Chailease headquarters in Taipei, or the possibility to return to their home countries for an internship in ASEAN countries.

Fong-Long Chen said the partnership is focused on increasing the interaction between Chailease and ASEAN student. Fong-Long Chen stressed, “We look forward to recruiting trilingual talented employees with fluency in English, ASEAN language and Mandarin.” GAIEP is an opportunity for interns to gain experiences with trans-national talent exchanges, to build professional skills, and to enhance students' practical skills.

After finishing the program, the interns are making a good preparation for entering the workforce and making rapid progress after graduation. Yue-Heng Li, the head of NCKU International Office Division, mentioned that NCKU collaborates with cross-national enterprises to jointly nurture talents from ASEAN countries. The collaboration scheme includes the internship opportunities provided by Chailease Holding for ASEAN students studying in NCKU. Yue-Heng Li said during winter and summer vacations, students will be given internship opportunities in overseas subsidiaries with round-trip flight tickets covered by Chailease.

As part of the collaboration, students will also receive internship allowance based on local standards. Students might also receive the recommendation to join the business in their home countries after graduation. Chailease Holding have held the GAIEP for 2020 academic period and summer internship on a trial basis. Located at Taipei headquarters, a total of 8 ASEAN students were matched into various divisions, including the function of Sales, Accounting Finance, Human Resources, Business Planning, and other divisions. Connie Yeh, one of the participants from Cambodia, expressed that GAIEP provides a unique experience especially for Southeast Asian students, to apply what they have learned in college, as well as gaining more insights about the business operations of an international enterprise. Chailease Holdings expanded into South Asia, starting in Thailand in 1989.

In 2017, Chailease entered the market of Cambodia and established Chailease Royal Leasing Plc. in the capital of Phnom Penh, in 2018, Chailease Berjaya Finance Corp. was established in Manila, Philippines, and further in 2019, Chailease International Financial Services Pte.
